Itinerary

Day 1: Depart the USA

Depart the USA on our overnight flight to India.

Day 2: Fly to Jaipur, Rajasthan

We arrive in India in the early afternoon and connect to our flight to Jaipur, Rajasthan. We transfer to our home for three nights at the luxurious Jaipur Marriott Hotel (or 5-star equivalent). Our hotel is located in the city center and will allow an opportunity for exploration on your own.

Day 3: Jaipur

Begin the day with a first-class breakfast in your hotel. We will provide options for this day that include a camel ride, visit to the market, visit a neighboring village or to explore on your own. We will attend a sound and light show explaining the history of the area in the evening.

Day 4: Amber Palace

Today we will visit the Amber Palace here in the state of Rajasthan. Amber Palace is a mesmerizing historical site that was once

the home of the Maharajas. The intricate architecture, painting and carvings make it an awe-inspiring place to see.

Day 5: Agra, Uttar Pradesh

Feel the Indian vibe as we drive from Jaipur to Agra, Uttar Pradesh. We will make stops along the way to visit Hawa Mahal, also called the pink city named after the red and pink sandstone used in building, and the Jal Mahal Palace constructed in 1699 and surrounded by water. We arrived in Agra in the late afternoon, in time to visit the elephant sanctuary and care center in Agra. The first of its kind, established in 2010, the center was created to rehabilitate severely abused and exploited captive elephants. before checking into the Marriot, located close to the Taj Mahal.

Day 6: Taj Mahal

This is sure to be a highlight of your vacation, we visit one of the seven wonders of the world. In 1983 Unesco World Heritage designated the Taj Mahal as the jewel of Muslim art in India and one of the universally admired masterpieces of the world’s heritage. It was commissioned in1632 by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan to house the tomb of his favorite wife, Mumtaz Mahal; it also houses the tomb of Shah Jahan himself. We will also visit the adjacent Agra Fort that served as the main residence of the Mughal Emperors.

Day 7: Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh

This is a short flight to Bhopal, where we will stay in a lovely, Indian style, family run hotel for 3 nights as we settle in for sightseeing in the area. Here we will partake in a puppet show, traditional dance, and more local activities. This afternoon we visit the Bhopali markets, where you can select one of the beautiful Indian fabrics to have your custom garment/wardrobe made to measure. Your garments will be completed before departing Bhopal!

Day 8: Sanchi

We travel 48 kilometers NE on this day trip to reach the Great Buddhist complex at Sanchi. This is one of the oldest stone structures in India, and an important monument of Indian Architecture. It was originally commissioned by the Mauryan

emperor Ashoka the Great in the 3rd century BCE. We will make a picture stop at the imaginary Tropic of Cancer line. There will be time to explore on your own and find lunch at a local establishment.

Day 9: Bhopal

Today is an easy day in which to choose from a number of optional ways to spend it. You can visit a local village and share their centuries old lifestyle, take an excursion to a UNESCO site of cave paintings, or you can revisit your tailor for a fitting if desired. Utilize the day to shop or simply lounge at the hotel.

Day 10: Train to Khajuraho

We travel cross country NE for this train ride from Bhopal to Khajuraho. It will be a full day capturing all there is to see through this mountainous region. We arrive at our 5-star hotel for two nights. Our hotel is located in the heart of Khajuraho and allows us to prepare for our jungle safari.

Day 11: Temples

Temples, Temples and more! Journey to the temple region of Khajuraho. We will compare the likes of three different temples. The Kandariya Mahadeva Temple, meaning “the Great God of the Cave”, is the largest and most ornate Hindu temple in the medieval temple group found at Khajuraho. Chaturbhuj Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to the god Vishnu. Brahma Temple is a ninth or early tenth century temple. These Temples are Unesco World Heritage dedicated.

Day 12: Panna Tiger Reserve

It’s just an hour drive to get to the reserve, but we’ll want to leave long before sunrise, as dawn is the best time to see the wildlife. Seeing tigers are always a matter of chance but regular sightings are reported. We may also see Cheetal, Sambar, Nilgai, Chinkara, Chowsingha, Langoor, Wildboar, Jackal. There are eight species of vultures and crocodiles in Ken River. We will spend the night in the jungle at Tendu Leaf Jungle Resort, Near Panna Tiger Reserve for our last 2 nights.

Day 13: Panna

Today we will travel into the jungle and hike to Pandav Falls. These are serene waterfalls located inside the Panna National Park in Panna district of Madhya Pradesh.
